Renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo has brought his giant wooden trolls to the Ocean State as part of his worldwide environmental art project,and they’re absolutely magical. Crafted from recycled wood and hidden in natural landscapes, these trolls are more than just sculptures, they’re part storybook, part scavenger hunt, and part nature walk. All of which my family loves!

One of the most popular troll stops? Ninigret Park in Charlestown, where winding trails lead you through beautiful scenery straight to these massive, mysterious beings. We now have three more trolls in Rhode Island, how exciting!!
Rhode Island Troll Trail Map
- Charlestown – Ninigret Park
- Erik Rock – Lounges beside Little Ninigret Pond, easily accessible via the trail.
- Greta Granite – A bit more hidden, located further along a wooded path marked by clues
- North Kingstown – Ryan Park
- Iver Mudslider – Newly installed as part of the expanding troll trail. He is located on the hill.
- East Providence – East Bay Bike Path area (possibly Crescent Park)
- Mrs. Skipper – Set among boulders along this scenic Bay Path, though the exact spot remains somewhat of a local secret, but here is the scoop, she is with the boulders!
- Exeter – Arcadia Management Area (Arcadia State Park)
- Young Boulder – Nesteled in the Browning Mill Pond, you will see on the trail loop, which is a fairy tale type walk in my opinion!

🎒 What to bring:
Comfortable shoes, water bottles, snacks, and a camera (because these trolls are selfie superstars!).
Whether you're exploring with toddlers, tweens, or teens, this experience is a perfect blend of outdoor exploration and artistic wonder. So gather the family, hit the trail, and meet the trolls—before they sneak back into the forest!
Although I have not visited all three new trails personally, I can tell you from experience on these trails, that larger strollers are not easily maneuvered in these trails!
