A Note from your Publisher - 4/16/2020

By Heather Williams April 16, 2020

With everything going on, this April is much different from most...

No actual getting up and "going" to school, no April School Vacation, no playing with friends, no big family gatherings, no egg hunts, no baseball on TV each night and no evenings or long days at the baseball field with my boys. That is a long list full of no... and it is easy to get caught up in what we don't have or can't do. I am trying my hardest to find the good in this situation and asking the people around me to do the same. Although I will admit, everyone in our house has had a meltdown or two... which is understandable under these circumstances.

Luckily it is April and the weather is getting better, this gives everyone an opportunity to fill the days with family walks to hunt for teddy bears and extra time outside. With so many activities on a regular basis, we are usually a VERY BUSY family. The boys ALWAYS have something going on or somewhere to be... as much as I have realized that I do miss the running around, this is a time to sit back and simply enjoy the slower pace of life. Besides school through "distance learning" and work, there is literally no where else we have to be - rather than concentrating on the negative, it is time to embrace the downtime.

We always have dinner together, but now we are not rushing or trying to time it perfectly so that we can get to practice on time. In our house, some rules have been adjusted a little - later bedtimes, extra TV, more use of electronics and what seems like endless eating and snacks.

This is a tough time for everyone to process and the uncertainty can be unnerving... but we can only control so much. Enjoy time with your family, make some great memories and do your very best to keep yourself and your family healthy.
