Building Yogis Summer Camp

By Laura Cioe July 2, 2015
Open Hands Wellness has something very special planned for your child's summer... Building Yogis Summer Camp! Our goal for this 4 half-day intensive camp is to incorporate yoga and mindfulness into our every day lives.

We will spend time each day journaling, this helps children to organize their emotions and thoughts in a safe non-reactive manner. It also gives them a sense of control over relationships and situations that can sometimes feel overwhelming and frustrating. Benefits of journaling set an impressive stage for the tween/teen years.

We will work on building connections with peers through partner games and story building. We will all take turns being leaders and with the focus always on teamwork, compassion, and positive relationships. Children will feel free to engage, use their imaginations, and cultivate friendships.

In addition, we will develop self-regulations skills through mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing, yoga poses, and self-expression. The more we fill our children's toolbox with safe, effective, peaceful outlets the more we will allow their creative, compassionate, wonderful selves to shine through!

Each day we will spend time discussing the importance of nutrition and moving our bodies. We will experience how much better we feel, inside and out, when we use our muscles, make our heart and lungs work hard, and give ourselves the proper fuel it needs. We will also touch on healthy body image and how every body is beautiful!

We will always PLAY and be silly... we will use bubbles and pinwheels to practice our breathing. We will make our own yoga poses based on animals, nature, and stories we read every day. We will work on art projects each day as well. This will help to enforce our children's free and creative nature.

We look forward to giving your children a safe, non-judgmental, and non-competitive environment while they learn skills that will stay with them forever. Our 4 day camp will run from Monday, July 20th - Thursday, July 23rd from 9am-12pm and is for ages 6 and up. The cost is $35 per class or $120 for the 4 class session. All supplies, along with a healthy snack and water will be included in cost.
