It’s the Summer to discover!
Kent County YMCA’s Camp Ok-Wa-Nessett offers values-oriented, camper-centered programs that help children discover their talents and feel a sense of belonging. Activities combine new friendships, adventure and personal growth – creating days as unique as each camper and memories that last a lifetime.
Campers enjoy fun and challenging activities in the great outdoors while learning skills that will prepare them for future success. Creative programs are designed and delivered based on YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Camp Ok-Wa-Nessett’s programs are directed by full-time YMCA professionals and staffed with dedicated, dynamic leaders. Counselors are selected for maturity, understanding, patience and a genuine interest in working with children.
Camp Ok-Wa-Nessett has been accredited for the last eight years by the American Camp Association, the most recognized organization that monitors the quality of camping in the USA. The accreditation process requires the camp to either meet or exceed over 300 standards in the area of health, safety, risk management, human resources, transportation, and in all program areas including aquatics. In addition, all camp staff participate in orientation and training prior to camp. This intensive training includes topics such as Child Abuse Prevention, Risk Management, Age Level Characteristics, Group Activities, Positive Conflict Resolution, First Aid, CPR and more.
Thanks to generous community support, the Kent County YMCA, a 501c(3) charitable organization, strives to not turn anyone away due to inability to pay. Financial assistance, based on donor support, may be granted to anyone who can demonstrate a verifiable need through recognized proof of income.
We hope that you and your family will make Camp Ok- Wa-Nessett part of your summer experience. Register by April 30th and receive last year’s rates!
