September 22, 2016
September marks the return of fall education programs for visitors of all ages. The Zoo’s youngest guests will enjoy the popular Rock-A-Baby concerts and Preschool Adventures classes. Older kids can create their very own masterpiece in Wild Art, or dine with the Zoo’s Marco Polo Adventure Trail inhabitants during the “Breakfast with the Animals” program. Teens can become environmental leaders in the Roots & Shoots club, or learn about the different jobs it takes to run a zoo during the Zoo Career Workshop. And events like Boo at the Zoo Family Overnight are designed for families to enjoy the Zoo and learn together. Register for a fall education program online at rwpzoo.org.

Finally, the acclaimed Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular returns on Thursday, Oct. 6 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 6 at RWP Zoo. This mesmerizing experience features over 5,000 illuminated jack-o-lanterns along the Zoo’s quarter-mile-long Wetlands Trail. The 2016 presentation – titled “American Treasures” – will feature a celebration of our nation’s history and culture through the rich lens of commemorative postage stamps. Elsewhere on the trail, scenes will include Humanitarian Heroes, Endangered Species, Science Theater and Backyard Garden. And of course, Halloween favorites will be back, including the dazzling Laughing Tree with its hundreds of illuminated pumpkins and iconic laughing music.

To improve the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular visitor experience on weekends, RWP Zoo is shifting to timed ticket entry for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. As a result, tickets for these nights will only be available for purchase online. The ticket sales, prices and other details about the event are available at rwpzoo.org/jols.
