Caramel Apple Sangria

By Heather Wirtz November 25, 2015
One of my very favorite cocktails is sangria, but most times it is considered a summertime drink (not that it matters to me). Any combination of caramel and apple is also a favorite of mine. So after thinking about it, I experimented a little and combined a few of my favorite things... the result is a delicious sangria fitting for fall/wintertime and perfect for holiday parties!

Want to make a family friendly version? Leave out the wine and vodka, just adding some sliced apples to cider can make it a special treat. You could also add some caramel or caramel flavor to the cider and apples.

What you will need:
1 bottle of white wine, we used Pinot Grigio
1 cup caramel vodka
6 cups apple cider
3 apples, thinly sliced
Caramel sauce/topping, for garnish - optional
Brown sugar, for garnish - optional

Directions:
  1. Combine wine, vodka, cider and apples in large pitcher or bowl, mix well.
  2. Refrigerate for 2 - 3 hours or until ready to serve.
  3. Serve over ice and enjoy!

To wow your guests, or yourself with a fancy (and tasty) glass, follow these simple directions!
  1. On two separate plates, place some brown sugar and caramel - depending on the type of caramel you are using, you might have to heat it a bit first.
  2. Dip empty glass in caramel until rim is coated and then dip the caramel coated rim onto the brown sugar.
  3. Carefully fill with ice and sangria.
You can also use a mixture of cinnamon and sugar instead of brown sugar, this is delicious with hard cider and pumpkin beer too!
